My Love, in these 13 years, no matter how I tried to move on, you remained my guidance, you remained the mother to our now grown up teenage twins. I now realised that you will always be in my mind, forever in our hearts.

I gave myself an excuse, I broke my promise to you. I believed our kids will need someone to see them through their teen, I thought we needed a lady to guide them and  at time, advise our girl things that, as a father, I cant do. But…….

Lunar New Year is just around the corner, but what is a festive without you? Our kids are now in Form 4, they may not be the smartest but you will be proud of them. Our boy is in Pure Science and our girl is aiming to read Law later. Hopefully, I will be able to see them through their Uni before I join you, My Love.

It was a short hike – 50 minutes from the foot hill to the waterfall. Trail was easy but watch out for leeches! The waterfall was a refreshing sight but be careful with the slippery rock surfaces.

After some snacks, we spent about one & a half hours at the waterfall to rest and relex before decending back to the starting point. Said good bye to each other by 1.30pm. The trekking was light but enjoyable.

Till we meet again in the next outing, on behalf of Cathy & myself, I wish to say ‘Thank You’ to YellowStone Sdn Bhd, Lafuma Bangsar, Mr Ng & Brother Apip for organising this hiking. A job well done. Keep it up.

I shall never wait again.

I waited once, but lost it all. Life is short. I hate no one and fight with nobody. We may not agree, as in life we have our own priority. I want to make peace with my past so it won’t screw up my present. I shall never wait again! My life may not be the best, but I will make it better. I will not hide my sorrow anymore but share it with my children. I shall never wait again! No one know what comes tomorrow. It may be the typhoon or the cyclone. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. I shall never wait again!

I was given a second chance and its up to me to live my way. I shall never wait again! Burn the candles, use the best sheets, wear my fancy shirt and keep my ponytail. I will not save it for special occasion. Today is my special occasion. I shall never wait again! I want to be eccentric now and not wait till 70 to wear purple. What others think of me is none of my business. I shall never wait again!

My children get only one childhood, I will make it memorable. If not me, who else? I shall never wait again!

Believing in myself. Forgive everyone and forgive everything. Envy is a waste of my time. I have all that I needed. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift!

I shall never wait again!

On April 23, 2008, we made our first attempt to Mount Kinabalu, Sabah (formerly known as North Borneo). Without much experiences in mountain hiking/trekking, it was difficult task. But the end result was worth the effort.

Standing at the summit of 4,095.2M, the highest point in Malaysia and South East Asia, the feeling and emotion were beyond words.

Trekking through Mesilau Summit Trail was much more difficult than difficult (at least for me & Cathy) but we were rewarded with heavenly like scenic views, and an extra copy of certificate of accomplishment (with a small fee).

Mesilau Summit Trail, 2 km longer as compared to Timpohon Summit Trail and took me three additional hours to reach Laban Rata.

I spent a total of 10.5 hours to complete the trek from Mesilau to Laban Rata (3,273 m) as compared to 5-7 hours by experienced climbers.

It took Cathy a solid 16.5 hours on the trail, in darkness, rain and cold weather and when she finally arrived at Laban Rata, it was well passed mid night. By then, the temperature at Laban Rata has dropped to 8 degree C. Again, a first timer, her accomplishment was commendable though she was in good shape but too tired to continue the summit at 2.30am.

After the rain, the night sky at Laban Rata was full of stars and the moon was brighter than ground zero. The waterfalls were lighted up in silver. With crispy air and a temperature of 8 degree C, you need to be there personally to appreciate the wonder.

When we began our ascent to the summit, it was a little slow at the beginning due to traffic congestion. But as the climbers eased off slowly, the climb was smooth and in good pace. I crossed the 8 km mark just about 6 am and was in good time to witness the beautiful sunrise

As we approaching the summit, the mountain was lighted up by the climbers headlights. Forming a beautiful line leading to the top of Low’s Peak.

I would not have made it to the summit without the tips and guidance from my dear friends, Lion Dr Low & his Lady. My sincere thanks to them for their help, encouragement and patience with us.

Over all I was a little slow and time was a constraint, I missed much of the photo taking opportunity. I hope I will return in the very near future and take as many photo as I wish.

It was tough but being the most climber friendly mountain around, its reachable. Best of all, its almost leech free!

I was 56 years 7 months and 16days on 24th April. So if you are in good health, this is one thing you need to try, at least once.

Believe in yourself!

FAITH is just a 5 letter word. Determination takes you beyond limits.

Life, just like the Mesilau Summit Trail. Full of ups & downs but ultimately it takes you to the top.
